Oh I have been just so so busy. Zoya is crawling all over the place. And one day, she continued to crawl even though the bed ended. I think she sleep walks. Or it is the obsession to crawl and stand. Either ways, we now have to sit near her even when she is asleep.
We went off to Ranthambhore to show her a tiger! It was an impromptu trip. Yes, yes.. She did see a tiger.. For a whole 15 minutes. Don’t think she made much of it. But my daughter braved the heat very gracefully.
And now the monsoons are upon us. Finally. And so are the mosquitoes. And the fact that I do not wish to apply these chemicals on her to ward them off, I googled alternatives.
Here is the first one – a mosquito trap! It’s from this site that also gives you ways of recycling plastic bottles
– Cut a 2 liter plastic bottle about 5 inches from the top and discard the cap. So you have 2 parts of the bottle now – the top with the mouth and the straight bottom.
– Invert the top and place it inside the straight bottom part of the bottle.
– Glue the two pieces together OR use a big stapler and staple the edges at very close intervals together OR use a thick tape to seal the edges together.
– Add 1 tsp yeast and 1/2 cup brown sugar to half a cup of luke warm water. Let the sugar dissolve.
– Pour the mixture into the bottle through the inverted top.
– Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide that you exhale. The yeast feeds off the sugar and emits the same gas, so the mosquito enters the bottle, thinking she will find food there. She won’t be able to escape.
Yes, SHE. It’s the females that bite!
