Singh bought a bottle of Hershey’s last year. We used it so greedily. And then, just when half the bottle was still full, I used it all up in something that failed so utterly miserably. Anyways. The bottle is now empty and am going to make chocolate sauce – it will be cheaper than the store-bought syrups, richer and tastier, and will NOT contain any cornsyrup.
And it is really simple.
– 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 2 cups granulated sugar
– 1/4 tsp salt
– 1 cup cold water
– 1 tbsp vanilla
– 1 tbsp dark rum
Combine the cocoa and sugar in a saucepan and whisk until all lumps of cocoa are gone.
Add salt and water and mix well.
Cook over a medium flame, bringing to a boil.
Remove from heat.
When it cools, add vanilla and rum – add it when cool otherwise the flavors will boil away.
Thankd for the recipe
Will surely try it out and get bac to you
Great Sujata.. Would love to hear from you..
For kids – I would want to Avoid rum considering alcohol won’t be cooked away ? Perhaps add caramel flavor?
